Vision

Vision is another public domain series from Germany released by an Atari magazine. The magazine ST Vision isn't widely known however, while the Vision PD disks were fully preserved. Unlike other series, ST Vision also put demos and English language software on their disks.

  • PC Format
    If your ST uses a TOS older than version 1.4, the desktop format does not format DOS-readable disks. Run PC_FORM.PRG and follow the prompts. If you'd rather run it as a desk accessory, simply rename it PC_FORM.ACC (copy it to the root directory of your boot disk, then reboot).
  • LQ-Set
    LQSETAC accessory and LQSETPR program allows you to set the different print styles on an Epson LQ printer. The accessory/program allows you to set the pitch - Pica (10 cpi), Elite (12 cpi), Condensed (15 cpi) and Ultra Tiny (17 cpi, superscript). You can also set the print styles, such as bold, double strike, italics, LQ, or double wide. These effects can be combined to produce other striking effects.

    The Atari Clipboard system is built around two system calls scrp_read() and scrp_write(). They don't actually read or write information to the clipboard, they just let you access the pathname where the clipboard is located. Simply put, this CPX lets you better manage where your clipboard is located (what drive and path) and gives you some other options like clearing the directory on bootup and whenever else you choose.

    KLATRIX is a Columns type clone create using STOS. In this game groups of three colored tiles fall from the top of the screen. By pressing the fire button on your joystick you rotate the tiles so that you end up with the color order you wish, top to bottom (you hope). By aligning three of the same color, in any direction, you cause them to vanish
  • Reaction II
    Reaction is a game based on the arcade game "Ataxx". It is a strategy board game. In order to win, two conditions must be met. One, you have to have more pieces on the board than your opponent. Two, the board must be filled or you must capture all of your opponent's pieces.

    Obviously influenced by Dungeon Master but set in the future. Control is by mouse. You are sent back in time to repair history and so save the universe from destruction. First create your own character, then travel through the dungeons of Lord Shrax and thwart his evil plans. Only three levels are accessible at first. You must register with the author to get the codes for the other levels. Needs 1 Meg.

    The TLC Show program is a quick and dirty Spectrum picture viewer. After double clicking on the program, the fileselector appears for you to select a Spectrum ('.SPC' or '.SPU') picture to view. Select the picture, it's quickly loaded and shown until you press another key.

    This one contains two actual databases of names and addresses, not one. The first portion is the standard address book type offering all the normal features. The second portion is a 'date reminder' section, hence the name 'Date Minder'. It stores by month names and addresses of those with birthdays

The game itself involves moving a variety of objects, arrows and bridges, around the screen in order to guide your penguins safely through a multitude of levels. With four penguins to guide at a time, it can become a bit of a challenge.
