If you're into these type of games, Nethack GEM is the best there is. Requires at least 2 Meg of memory. A hard drive is highly recommended but not essential.

  • Kaboom
    KABOOM by David Munsie is a conversion of an old 8-bit favorite. You are presented with a screen with someone who doesn't like you at the top. He goes on to drop LOTS of bombs on you from above. You have to catch all of them with three paddles you move back and forth with your joystick.
  • Freaked Out
    A puzzle game where you must guide your character across a tiled grid, picking up points as you go but avoiding traps and monsters. Your aim is to reach the door at the exit of each level and onto the next, more challenging level.

    A two player battle game in split screen format. The aim of the game is straightforward, blow up your opponent before losing your own life. Achieving the aim is rather more difficult. Needs 1 Meg. Utopos is STE only.

    A bat and ball game with three pads, one at each side of the playing area and a third at the top of the screen. The aim of the game is to hit these pads to score points. You begin with only three lives, but good play can increase these. Each round of the game is against the clock and the pace of the action gets hotter, the further you progress. A new slant on the bat and ball type game and extremely addictive.

    A game for up to four players. Each player moves around the screen leaving a trail behind him. Collision with either the trail or the sides of the playing area mean elimination from the game. The winner is the last player left alive. Needs 1 Meg, STE only.

    A game from Sweden where you use the joystick to move a ball around the screen, aiming to collect letters in alphabetical order. Use to Space to change to push mode where you can move some of the blocks which are in your way, thus aiding your progress. There are lots of special tiles and bonuses to collect as well as shooting the enemy. You can play a one or two player game. A very original game with great presentation and very good gameplay once you get the hang of the controls. NOT TOS 2.06.

    The Blobbs have taken over the Sunplant and it is your task to destroy them by gathering uranium crystals and throwing them into the generator. Your transporter temporarily helps to keep the Blobbs off your back, but never for very long.

    Described as a game for anyone who can think logically. It is a logic problems game and is based upon boolean logic, which is essentially the way computers work. Up to eight player can take part and there are several levels of play. Just to make it harder, a timer counts down as you proceed to solve the problem.

    An Asteroid style shoot 'em up game where a number of ST's can be linked together in a multi-player game, although a single player option is also avaliable. For a multi-player game, machines are linked via the MIDI ports. You can also have a co-pilot, in which case another ST or a PC, is connected via the RS232 port. The software required for the PC co- pilot is also on disk. As in the classic asteroids game, you fly around the screen avoiding the asteroids and, in multi-player format, shooting or teaming up with your opponents. Medium or High Res.

    This is a strategy adventure game where you must guide your heroes around the land of Tharg, adding men to your own army and then fighting or avoiding bandits. The overall aim is to destroy the Glass Buttock and so restore the land to it's previous peaceful existence. As usual for an Ian Scott game, the graphics are breathtaking. Loosely based on the Spectrum and C64 game 'Lords Of Midnight'. Needs 1 meg.

    A fast action shoot 'em up in which you must battle through a number of levels to free the three brains of Zedonoid. Blast your way through each level, blowing up everything in sight and avoiding enemy fire. An exit on each level leads to the next and another round of rapid fire!   • Reflection
    A challenging puzzle game, the main idea of which is to hit objects with a beam of light. The light needs to be reflected by placing a series of mirrors and prisms in the correct places.

    An unusual puzzle game involving moving blocks around with the number and cursor keys.

    An original Shareware adaptation of the Minesweeper theme. Click onto a square on the board to reveal a die. The number on the die indicates how many of the 8 adjacent squares have skulls in them. Your first nine moves are 'free', after that you lose the game if you uncover a skull. Suspect squares can be 'flagged' as with other games of this type. Your grid is selectable 20x20, 30x30 or 40x40 and smooth hardware scrolling allows you to move throughout the playing area, which is usually much larger than the physical screen. A great stereo soundtrack plays throughout and can be subsituted by a MOD file of your own or one of the three others supplied. A fiercely additive game. STE ONLY.

As you complete one dungeon, you enter the town, pick up some provisions and head for the next dungeon. Reasonable graphics and excellent digitised sound effects throughout.     A platform game where the idea is to get your character, Squidgy, from the start of the screen to the exit, collecting the scattered buttons as you go. However the buttons must be collected in the correct order.

    A high speed platform game, the aim of which is to rescue some piglets by using the super pyscho kart, a special vehicle capable of amazing feats. However, not all the action requires you to be confined to your kart. By leaving your vehicle, you can use weapons and reach parts of the game that the kart is unable to reach.
  • Karate Champion
    Based on the highly popular martial arts games of the 1980's. You are challenger in a karate championship and must either knock out your opponent or inflict more damage on him than he does on you. Beat him on both bouts and you win the round, moving on to an even more powerful opponent. Bonus rounds are also given at certain stages. Control is entirely by joystick, with a vast range of moves being possible. A fast action one or two player game. Full GFA source on disk.

    A puzzle game from Germany which is played on a grid comprising of a number of squares. You must get a black marble across the screen to the exit. To do this, you control a second ball with the joystick. This second ball can be moved over arrows on the grid and pressing the fire button now makes the black marble move in the given direction. You must pick up diamonds as you go, then move the marble to the exit, all within the time limit. It sounds easy but is in fact a very tricky and addictive game that will have you coming back for just one more go.

    While on a space flight to Alpha 5, your spacecraft malfunctions and you are sucked into a wormhole! The aim of the game is to escape. Wormhole 1 is a vertically scrolling game where you must destroy the enemy without being destroyed yourself. There's also a swapping (trading) element. Control of your vessel is by joystick and there are plenty of enemies to avoid.
  • Spot the Difference
    A spot the difference game, much like the ones found in children's puzzle books. The left half of the screen displays a picture, the right shows the same picture but with some differences. Using the mouse you must find the differences. There are eleven pictures in all, but just to make things harder, the pictures do not have the same differences each time you play the game. A great game for children and adults, made even better by outstanding graphics.

    A very addictive puzzle/strategy game for one or two players. If two players are playing, they must connect the computers together using the Midi or RS232 ports. The ST version is also on disk so that you can play against a friend. Using the mouse, you move a marble around the screen collecting hearts. You must collect all the hearts on a level to proceed to the next. Each level presents new challenges and requires different skills. There are 100 levels in all and levels which have been beaten may be bypassed next time round. Full instruction are accessed by pressing HELP. Mono only, needs 1 Meg. connecting two computers either by using MIDI-cables, a NULL-Modem-cable or via modem (2400 baud or faster). Includes English and German documentation.

    A two player strategy game where the idea is to destroy units and cities owned by your opponent. Units are warships, planes or vehicles of some type. You must explore the terrain and conquer cities to produce more units. Eventually you will be forced to meet your opponent in battle. Also included are two utility programs for use with Stratagem. Mapper allows you to create maps for use within the program from either Neochrome or Degas pictures and Typedit lets you change the properties of the units used.     A two player strategy game where the idea is to destroy units and cities owned by your opponent. Units are warships, planes or vehicles of some type. You must explore the terrain and conquer cities to produce more units. Eventually you will be forced to meet your opponent in battle. Also included are two utility programs for use with Stratagem. Mapper allows you to create maps for use within the program from either Neochrome or Degas pictures and Typedit lets you change the properties of the units used.   • Prensorium
    An arcade/puzzle game, the object of which is to destroy the enemies on each level. You do this by luring them into traps and collecting mines with which to blow them up. There are fifty levels in all and the quicker you go, the better. As time goes on things really start to hot up!
  • Naarjek IV
    Naarjek is a 'thinking' computer which has closed down all forms of access. Your mission is to gain access to the computer and stay within it. Naarjek will try to prevent your access if possible, therefore a sound strategy is essential.
  • Mudpies
    A simple little game in which you control a little figure who must collect a pie, then make his way to the exit. All manner of nasties try to prevent you from doing this and you'll find yourself coming back for more, time and time again. Released as a commercial game in 1985, then as shareware in 1992.
  • Slartris 1.3
    This game is a clone of the well-known (and popular) game "Tetris". It is based on the Gameboy version, which means that it pays off in points to clear several lines at once.
  • Action Bughunt
    Move around the screen using the joystick, shooting bugs as you go. You have a overhead view of the playing area and can pick up and change weapons as well as collect ammo as you move around, but beware of the bugs, they move very quickly!

  • Threes N Fives
    A demo of the well known version of dominoes where you must place your dominoes so as to make the two open ends add up to a multiple of either three or five. Points are awarded depending upon your success, you need 41 points to win the game. Control is by mouse and the game is extremely user friendly.
  • BATSub
    Using just the joystick you must control the movements of a submarine and launch torpedoes to destroy ships on the surface. However, your enemies try to halt your progress by dropping depth charges on you, fish also pose hazards underwater. Take to much damage and you're history.
  • Dominoes (Morgan)
    A demo of the more traditional game of dominoes. Control is simple, move the mouse pointer and click. Assuming your move is legal, your chosen domino is placed. View each end of the growing chain of dominoes to decide where to place your next tile. This demo is merely a best out of three game, register to get a fuller version containing opponents of varying difficulties.
  • Molecule
    Discover the places occupied by atoms on a board by firing laser rays at the board. Depending on what happens to the ray, reflected, deviated or absorbed, you should be able to work out the positions of the atoms. It's not as easy as it sounds.

    You take on the role of a knight mounted upon a flying unicorn and must defeat your opponents in a joust. However, not only can your unicorn run, he can also fly and shoot missiles as can a number of your opponents. Your enemies come in waves and also in a variety of forms, each with different attributes. A one or two player game.

    A computer version of the card game where you have to make up piles of cards in descending order by placing black and red cards (B&W in this version!) alternately in each pile. The mouse is used to click and drag cards to various destinations around the playing area. Mono only.

    A horizontal scrolling arcade and strategy game. You control the helicraft and must collect diamonds one at a time and return them to base. Just to make life more difficult, the diamonds are buried underground. You must use bombs to make holes in the ground then manoeuvre the helicraft into the hole to collect the gem! Slow moving asteroids descend from the sky and contact with them destroys your craft. Once a level has been completed the ground becomes higher and so your task becomes even harder, but each time you return to base you top up your supply of ammunition. Includes full assembler source code.
