All the usual features are there, including buying and selling players, choosing your squad etc. A good implementation of a popular theme. Needs 1 Mb.
  • Plasma Ball
An adaptation of the Breakout style of game but with an interesting new slant. The aim is the keep the ball in the air as long as possible using the joystick controlled bat. However, as the game progresses, the ceiling slowly gets lower, giving you less time to position the bat correctly and the ball speeds up. Sounds easy, but in fact this game is a real challenge and it takes quite an effort to get your name on the high score table.

This former commercial release is now available as Freeware due to the generosity of the programmer, and is a must for fans of this genre. The only differences from the full version are the lack of game introduction and one or two minor alterations. The game itself involves the rescue of a number of trapped personnel from a bio-nuclear complex. Radiation is dangerously high and security droids guard many areas but you must reach the trapped individuals in time and retrieve their teleport card. Your character, Jim, is completely joystick controlled throughout the game and can run, walk, jump, crawl and climb as well as fight off adversaries and access the computers that he finds scattered within the complex. This is a superb platforms and ladders game loosely based on the arcade classic Space Panic, from the author of Budgie's version of Jet Pac. Destroy the killer tomatoes by digging holes for them to fall into, then splatting them down to the next level. If that's not challenging enough, you can try bouncing on their heads or firing a variety of mean-sounding weapons at them. Hector features great graphics and music, addictive gameplay and more levels than you'd like to count! Not TOS 2 upwards.

  • MidiWiz 1.0
It's the old story of a peaceful kingdom governed by a wise king, who dies without naming a successor. As a result, his six sons get greedy and want the best parts of the kingdom for themselves. You play the part of one of the six sons, preparing to battle it out with your brothers. Midi Wiz uses an overhead view like Nethack and Gauntlet and is a sort of trading/conquest game. You must increase your armed forces, build fortifications and of course trade goods with others. The use of magic to invent things (a bit like Dino Dudes but not so much fun!), create dragons, elephants, healing potions etc, all adds to the appeal. As the name suggests, Midi Wiz allows several computers to be linked together in a Midi network so that you can compete against others in real time. As the game runs on any Atari computer, you could easily link up an ST, TT and Falcon in a network. This unregistered version does not let you save your progress, limits the size of the network to three computers and has a few more restrictions.

Take Two is a Match-It type tile game. There are various different tile sets, different grid sizes and several difficulty levels. Needs 1 Mb, STE enhanced.

Two versions of the well known light cycles game. The first is a one player game played as a tournament over twenty rounds against a variety of computer controlled opponents. The second game is similar but allows up to four players to compete against each other, provided you have a four player adaptor. The basic idea for those not familiar with the game is that each player directs his or her beam of light around the playing area using the joystick trying to avoid the other competitors and, more importantly, trying not to cross the trail that each player leaves as they move.

  • SoS Hangman 2.0
A well presented ACC version of the age old classic. There are about 400 words used in Hangman, so you are unlikely to come across many 'repeats' unless you are a persistent player! For each game, a word is chosen randomly from the data file and its category (cinema, personalities, television, arcade, toons, music or literature) is given as your clue. Get 7 wrong guesses and you're hanged!
  • Solitaire (GEM) 1.5
Yet another of those games played with beads, where the aim is to eliminate all the other beads from the board. What makes this one so different is that it runs as an ACC or PRG and is Multi-TOS friendly.
  • Miser Mind 1.0
An adaptation of the 'Mastermind' game played with coloured pegs. You must guess the correct colours and sequence of the pegs by elimination. You can choose to have between four and eight pegs per row and use between six and twelve colours. You can also decide to allow or disallow blanks and more than one peg of the same colour in a row. You must manage your budget, design your product packaging and may have up to four products in development at any one time, although only one may be released each month. Software Projects is well presented graphically and easy to play, with all choices being made by clicking onto icons on screen. Good fun for the budding entrepreneur!

  • Escape From Castle Of Mystery V2.1B
To cut a long story short, you are (still) trapped in Castle Mackay and have found the treasure you were in search of in the original game. The aim of this game is simple, collect four sticks of dynamite, escape from the castle and blow it up on the way out! The game consists of four rounds (each of which has several levels of difficulty to progress through in order to complete them), three of which are included in this demo version. The Music Zone taxes your dexterity as you have to hit the correct notes on the keyboard within three seconds of them appearing on screen. Complete the song and you get your first stick of dynamite. The Plumbing Zone involves placing a network of pipes on screen in such a manner as to ensure that the water reaches its destination. Easier than the Music Zone but still requires a bit of thought. Finally, the Runaround Zone involves exploring a maze and finding your way to the hidden stick of dynamite within a given time limit. The Gamble Zone is disabled in this version as are lots of extra graphics, sound samples, bonuses and such like which are included in the full version. If you're into puzzle type games, you'll enjoy this one. Needs 1 Mb.

  • GEMTrek 1.1
A cross between Star Trek and Battleships & Cruisers. The storyline follows that of Star Trek with your computer controlled opponents being the Kingons or Romulans and your ships resembling famous crafts from the Federation Starfleet. However, that's where the similarity ends (well almost!). Gameplay itself follows that of the Battleships and Cruisers game where the aim is simple, to sink (blow up?) the enemy's ships. GemTrek is unsurprisingly housed in a slick GEM interface and runs as an ACC or PRG. It is of course fully Multi-TOS and MagiC Mac compatible. Docs in English and German, program in English, German and Swedish. On-line Help in ST-Guide (not included) format. Requires a minimum resolution of 640x400, so high res only if running on an ST.
